Feeling Blue in a Red State

Much ado with everything.

Help Junior Achievers Achieve

Posted by americancoolie on 10 17 2006

Junior Achievement, for those of you who don’t know, is an organization that tracks the progress of children from elementary school through high school. It offers different programs including “Exchange City” (introduced to fifth graders, it is a day that JA, a non-profit organization, lets children run their own pseudo-businesses), Economics program (a certification program for middle school kids), and Company program (a high school program where the club becomes a company and company officers must run business including paperwork, creating their own designs and products, and advertising/selling).

Junior Achievement is an incredible program. I mean, I’m a product of Junior Achievement. I was managerĀ of marketing, vice president of production, and finally, president. Sadly, all my proteges fell through and did not reach any officer positions this year, causing widespread prejudice and corruption in a company I once spearheaded. My little sister, however, is doing quite well for herself. She is assistant (similar to vice president) of marketing (I think) after transferring to a different company.

What I am proposing, is for those out there in digiLand to help out a kid who is aspiring to a path of entrepeneurship and if you like the t-shirts, please comment with your name and e-mail, and I will put in an order. T-shirts are $12.00 a piece.

Deb, bring a t-shirt next Friday and I’ll buy a shirt. Bring the blue one that says “Pika” on it.
